1. Introduction

Welcome to Alberton Stars Private School (“the School”). By enrolling your child at our school and using our website, www.albertonstars.com, you agree to comply with and be bound by the following terms and conditions. These terms govern your relationship with the School, including your rights and obligations. Please read them carefully.

2. Admission and Enrollment

2.1. Admission Policy
By applying for admission, parents/guardians agree to accept and abide by the School’s vision, mission, and values as outlined in our Prospectus. The language of instruction at the School is English, and learners must be proficient in English to ensure their academic success.

2.2. Application Process
Applications for admission must be submitted with all required supporting documents, including birth certificates, ID copies, proof of residence, and previous school reports. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

2.3. Registration Fee
A non-refundable registration fee is required for all new enrollments. This fee, along with the annual school administration levy, must be paid to secure a place at the School.

2.4. Age Requirements
Learners must meet the age requirements for their respective grades as outlined in the Prospectus.

3. School Fees

3.1. Fee Structure
School fees are payable monthly in advance or annually by the specified dates. The fee structure is detailed in the School’s Prospectus and Registration Form.

3.2. Payment Terms
Parents/guardians are responsible for ensuring that school fees are paid on time. Fees are due on the 1st of each month. Late payments may incur interest charges, and persistent non-payment may result in the termination of the learner’s enrollment.

3.3. Notice Period
A one-month written notice is required if parents/guardians intend to withdraw their child from the School. Failure to provide notice will result in a charge equivalent to one month’s fees.

3.4. Default on Payments
In cases of default on payments, the School reserves the right to take legal action to recover outstanding fees. Parents/guardians will be liable for all legal costs incurred.

4. Learner Responsibilities

4.1. Code of Conduct
Learners are expected to adhere to the School’s Code of Conduct, which includes maintaining discipline, respecting others, and participating fully in school activities. The Code of Conduct is available upon request and must be signed by both learners and their parents/guardians.

4.2. Uniform and Attendance
Learners must wear the prescribed school uniform and attend school regularly. Absenteeism must be communicated to the School by 9:00 AM on the day of absence and substantiated in writing upon the learner’s return.

4.3. Disciplinary Actions
The School reserves the right to take disciplinary action, including suspension or expulsion, in cases of severe misconduct or repeated violations of the Code of Conduct.

5. Parent/Guardian Responsibilities

5.1. Support for Learners
Parents/guardians are responsible for providing a home environment that supports their child’s education, ensuring their child is prepared for school each day, and communicating with the School regarding any changes in contact information.

5.2. Financial Obligations
Parents/guardians must ensure that all financial obligations to the School are met promptly. Failure to do so may result in the withholding of reports, certificates, and the re-enrollment of the learner.

5.3. Behavior on School Premises
Parents/guardians and visitors to the School are expected to behave respectfully towards staff and other learners. The School reserves the right to request that any person behaving inappropriately leave the premises.

6. Health and Safety

6.1. Medical Information
Parents/guardians must provide the School with up-to-date medical information for their child. In the event of a medical emergency, the School reserves the right to seek medical treatment for the learner without prior consent.

6.2. Indemnity
The School and its staff are not liable for any injury, loss, or damage suffered by a learner during school activities, except in cases of gross negligence or willful misconduct by the School.

7. Use of Personal Information

7.1. Data Collection
The School collects personal information from parents/guardians and learners as part of the admission process and for the purpose of managing the School’s operations. This information is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

7.2. Photographs
The School may take photographs of learners for use in marketing materials, including brochures, websites, and advertisements. By enrolling your child at the School, you consent to the use of such photographs unless you notify the School in writing.

8. General Provisions

8.1. Amendments
The School reserves the right to amend these Terms and Conditions at any time. Parents/guardians will be notified of any changes in writing.

8.2. Jurisdiction
These Terms and Conditions are governed by South African law, and any disputes arising from them shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the South African courts.
